Carrie: Emilio Pucci dress, Zac Posen belt, Marc Walsh/Leslie Chin for Rodarte cuff

This post has been a long time coming. Caught SATC 2 with the girls on premier night in swot vac. It was a lovely night apart from the fact that we were dead in the middle of swotting. A good break and night out all the same. Dinner was at il solito posto, delicate italian restaurant on Collins St. Had the all Amatriciana pasta dish which was amazing and i cant recall which wine we had. but all in all superb.

Movie was at the Keno on Collins, where we went for the first movie itself and as usual, long ques, women wrought with anticipation and the token male in the audience (whom was an incredibly sporting chap, chipping in his 2 cents worth of commentary/spontaneous claps during the movie.) Truth be told, he was probably more entertaining than the dramma mamma (litterally) shennenigans of TV's fav foursome.  The script writing was terrible somehow, and the acting sub-par (maybe its cuz its such a long movie, the TV series were short and sweet!). It also comes across a little too strongly in trying to drive home the middle-eastern burqa wearing message - it made a subtle comment and that probably hit the nail. Islamic mores and customs were probably not treated with enough respect in my opinion, which is fine as im not one for PC, but it just seemed to deteriorate the quality of the movie. SATC 2 also tries to answer too many questions, losing touch with its audience and forgetting that the freshness that it brought to tellie screens in the 90s and noughties stemmed from posing challenges to societal norms.

rant aside, admitedly,  the exoticness and surreal luxury of it all really is the essence of the SATC movies. eitherway, you went in there not expecting any food for thought, but a feast for the eyes and really, a 2 hr fashion show. miranda was by far the best dressed on set! and lots of Halstons (good on the dead druggie [wikipedia says he abused and was fired from his job hahaha]).

so here we go, the fashion castlist:
Miranda in:Bottega Venneta dress, vintage belt, louboutin pumps
Carrie in: Halston Heritage dress, Solange Azagury-Partridge necklace, louboutin pumps
Samantha: Vintage dress, VBH clutch

Carrie: Christian Dior T-shirt, Zac Posen shirt and underskirt, Manolo Blahnik sandals, Andrea Lieberman bracelet and vintage bag.

Check out the size of those [earings]! vintage (of course).

Jean Paul Gaultier robe, Patricia Field mules (on floor).

Vintage dress, Julien David scarf, Chanel belt, Patricia Underwood hat and Cartier bracelets.

Sunny Weather

Cannot wait for an excuse to wear sunnies again. 2 WEEKS. I love being all snuggly and wrapped up, but, packing on the winter pounds is not something to look forward to. gonna try and yoga hard-core these next couple of weeks. 6.30 am woohooo. today's class was terrible. it was too packed and i thought I was gonna faint. and for the first time ever, i had to leave the hot room.

All Wrapped Up

The weather's been going berserk. I've been more or less cooped in trying to study (OMG. it seems I've forgotten how to prepare for exams) and all I can think about is lusting over these chunky knits and how its all im missing to complete my thick-knit shroud of warmness.

oh and i chipped my tooth against a fork. fml. :(

Flashdance

Thought I'd get out of the house today for a bit to say hello to the world again. minimal human interaction (skype doesnt count) was making me insane. so in a moment of flashdance inspiration, I figure I'd hit up American Apparel and buy some lovely new tights. To keep warm of course.

I really really wanted this, having salivated over them online.

or this. they are just too cool for school

so i got to the store on chapel street and was all excited and everything only to find waaaay more cool stuff. like these.. (how fucking awesome they would be in yoga. would totally make all the other snobby yoga pros standing next to me fall over in their warrior, tree, peacock poses and what not).

they even have these awesome silky things!

and i wanted to cry because i couldnt really justify spending 70 bucks on a pair of neon or two-toned tights/ really wished i could have been an extra in flashdance or some other equally cheese dance movie for the sake of prancing around in them.

AND THEN i walked past these and felt a whole lot better because i wasnt gonna be the sucker that bought them. wot the heck is the point of cut out tights?? wot easy access for a cheeky bum squeeze?

Something sticky something sweet

so i got to the law library the other afternoon, half hoping, half expecting to see you there. you didnt disappoint. didn't go up to you cuz you had your brow furrowed with concentration and were typing madly at what must have been the end of your essay. didnt want to ruin your yogi-like concentration. was just settling down into some solid reading when i see your approaching reflection in the window before me.

and then you held out a lollie and told me you'd brought an extra one along for me, because i liked the ones from the day before. too cute.

only because chupa chup lollies were the stuff of my childhood/teenage valentines.

sometimes, the smallest gestures win the biggest smiles. eventhough it may mean nothing to you, it totally made my day

Some girls just ooze sex appeal. In that sultry stare coming from perfectly almond -shaped eyes and lips so luscious they look like fresh strawberries, therein lies a formidable temptress.

What the heck.

Life would be so much easier if I were skinny.

Two Things

1. Blowing 300 bucks on clothes at a sale is probably NOT healthy.

2. Neither is picking-up a 19 yr old.

Easter Updates

The week has gone by phenomenally quickly, with me not having been very productive again. Its been 4 years of unproductive easters, I guess they were wrong about change being the only constant. Cos feck, some things dont change.

1. Out on Good Friday for a 21st and then housewarming, and Easter Sunday for brunch with the girls at Harveys and then the Ron Mueck exhibition. Brunch was scrumptuous. I had the usual eggs benedict on the best sourdough bread accompanied with a cheese platter for all and glass of exquisite white wine (which i can't remember the name of and can't seem to find on the restaurant's wine list online). All coupled with 2 hours of girly goss in the sun.

2. Ron Mueck was really cool, albeit short. The NGV didnt have a very large collection on display, but some of it was confronting nonetheless. Mueck is an Australian hypersurrealist sculptor based in the UK . His sculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images. I thought the limbs were produced with amazing accuracy as were facial hairs right down to different growth paths of hairs one actually has. But an even better discovery were some of the treasures in the Gallery Shop.  I am such a sucker for musuem and gallery shops, but exercised enough self-restraint this time around. I will be back to just sit in the cafe and browse through different art books though.

3. YumCha on monday with the crew was scrummy but uneventful. Oh apart from the fact that I had gotten the restaurant name wrong and booked at one down teh road. A little awkward.

4. Dinner parties. Hosted a couple of friends over the break with Hoops for dinner over one night and the MLC girls 2 nights ago. We had nasi lemak with the girls which waspretty awesome if I may say so myself as the rendang, curry chicken, coconut rice and grilled stuffed tofupok were all a success. Sambal from Yunn Shin was yummy as was our dessert by Squek and Fruit Platter by Lyn. Our catchups are always too fun and never go long enough. I think a sleepover and dinner party is in the works at someone else's coming up. yay!
